Plan where you report.

Forecasts, budgets and sub-plans are created directly in SAC on the same model as reporting. Calculation logic lives in data actions instead of spreadsheet formulas, traceable and repeatable.

Forecasting and projections

Project the current year realistically: actual months come from the system, and SAC projects the open months per account using a defined rule. Every forecast round is archived and stays comparable.

  • One rule per account or account group: linear, prior year, average, growth rate or manual
  • Suggested values can be overwritten, totals update instantly
  • Archive forecast rounds and compare them (rolling forecast)
  • Effortless year change, the closed year stays untouched

Activity-based business planning for hospitals

Sub-plans for activity, personnel, material costs and outpatient revenue, each with the right drivers. One click transfers the result into the P&L structured by the German hospital accounting ordinance (KHBV). The business plan follows from the planned activity.

  • DRG revenue from cases, case mix and the state base rate, psychiatry via PEPP and billing days
  • Personnel costs per cost centre and staff group with volume and price effects
  • Medical supplies linked to the planned activity
  • Outpatient revenue, elective services and outpatient surgery with growth rates
  • Clinics plan locally, central controlling reviews and adjusts

  • Growth rates in percent or euros per line item
  • Three-year medium-term plan

Decentralised planning with clear rules

Unit managers plan their part directly in SAC while controlling keeps the overview. Input rules, locks and comments make sure the result is a consistent plan.

  • Everyone sees and edits only their own unit
  • Input only on the right level, mistakes are caught immediately
  • Completed units are locked
  • Cell comments record assumptions
  • Planning steps at the push of a button, with status feedback and a published version

Allocations and distributions

Costs of central units are distributed by key to locations, companies or cost centres. The offsetting entry is created automatically, the total stays the same, and the allocation can be repeated any number of times.

  • Keys in percent, by actual shares or by reference quantities
  • Offsetting entry on the sender, including a total check
  • Running it again leads to the same result

So that everything fits.

Clean data models and targeted extensions are the basis for reports and plans that keep working well for years.

Data models and integration

Good reports start with the model. I build the data foundation in SAP Datasphere, with CDS views or directly in SAC, with clean hierarchies, versions and a traceable origin for every number.

  • Connections to S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, Datasphere and OData, live or via import
  • Custom CDS views and semantic models in Datasphere
  • Account, cost centre and organisational hierarchies
  • Origin of every value visible: system, upload, manual input or planning run

Custom widgets and usability

Where the SAC standard ends, I build custom widgets that match the requirements and the corporate design. Scripts turn stories into applications that are easy to use.

  • P&L as a Sankey diagram with drill-down
  • Treemap with top N and a hint on concentration risk
  • Tabs generated from the model hierarchy
  • Excel upload validated through the SAC import instead of a macro
  • Click a number to see how it is calculated

From spreadsheets to an integrated business plan.

A large hospital wanted to bring reporting and planning together in one system. Board figures were to be available faster, and the business plan was to follow from the planned activity.

Starting point

Planning in many spreadsheets, figures from different systems and board documents with a lot of manual work.

Solution

One shared model for actuals, forecast and business plan. Sub-plans for activity, personnel, material costs and outpatient revenue flow into the P&L at the push of a button. Plus a board cockpit covering finance, contribution margins, HR, activity and occupancy.

Result

One set of figures for the board, controlling and the clinics. Questions in the meeting can be answered by drilling down to the account. The clinics plan their own activity, while controlling stays in charge of the plan.

Selected projects.

From more than 30 projects in healthcare, pharma, automotive, manufacturing, trade and logistics.

Developing Ready2Run SAP Analytics Cloud products

Project management and development of several reusable Ready2Run products for SAP Analytics Cloud: business content, custom CDS views, data models and user-friendly applications and stories, including for the SAP modules SD, PP, PS, FI and CO.

Bottom-up financial planning and top-down P&L planning in SAC for hospitals

Project management for the design and implementation of integrated planning and reporting solutions in healthcare: analysis of existing financial planning, model and report prototypes, and planning and reporting in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Replacing classic SAP reports with SAP Datasphere and SAC

Datasphere data models replacing classic reporting structures: semantic models, master data views and currency conversion for the live connection to SAP Analytics Cloud. Plus coaching and enablement of the customer teams.

Taking over and replacing SAP reporting with SAC

Review of existing SAP reports in a technology and electrical engineering company, replaced by custom CDS views, new stories and analytic applications. The goal was modern, maintainable standard reporting.

Project management for SAP Analytics Cloud rollouts

Introducing SAP Analytics Cloud in manufacturing and the automotive supplier industry: requirements, data models and data sources in SAP S/4HANA and R/3, and reports based on SAP SD and PP.

Mobile reporting application based on SAC and CDS views

Preparing SAP data with CDS views, integration into SAP Analytics Cloud and a mobile reporting application with a strong focus on usability.

Developing SAC custom widgets

Custom widgets for every chart and widget the SAC standard does not offer, so that stories and planning applications match requirements and corporate design exactly.
